Want to serve Mom a home-cooked meal but don't have the time or talent?
Atlanta-based Gourmet Station.com has done the work for you, creating three-
and four-course meals complete with napkins, candle, dessert, tea or coffee
and heating instructions. All you need is an oven -- and your best china.
Hurry, though. (The two-day shipping option is $19.99; one-day, $39.99.)
At the website, you choose Parisian, Cajun, Asian fusion or Tuscan; pictures
are posted alongside.
We went with Tuscany and got one bread, two soups, two entrees and one dessert.
The sourdough bread was to die for; the tomato soup, dotted with mini pasta
shells and spinach, was fragrant and lovely; the seared salmon was accented
by a delicious sun-dried tomato sauce. But there were misses: The peppercorn
sauce on the chicken saltimbocca was thin and bland, and the teeny beef and
sausage meatballs in the Italian wedding soup were grainy and flavorless.
Happily, the ''bake your own'' capuccino-chocolate chunk cookies more than
made up for it. Only Mom could do better.
